Anyone have any info or experiences on that topic? My doctors didn't seem to have an answer. I'm curious if low-amniotic fluid is something that could happen in a subsequent pregnancy. Those of you who commented that you had low amniotic fluid, how did your labors go? I hope your babies were born healthy. Luckily, my baby was born healthy (although he was stubborn and not ready to come out, so after being induced and laboring for a full day, only to stop progressing at 5 cm, he was taken by c-section). I doubt that it was caused by dehydration because water was my "pregnancy craving" and I drank a ton of it every day. during my labor, they tested to see if I had been leaking amniotic fluid and were able to determine that was not the cause of my low amniotic fluid. I thought that was a bit extreme, but figured she knew best. My OB admitted me and induced me that day - Would not even let me go home to get my hospital bag. I don't know the number, but it was extremely low (2, maybe?). I had low amniotic fluid at my 36 week ultrasound. Low Levels of Amniotic Fluid Low levels of amniotic fluid are experienced by 8 percent of pregnant woman, (4 percent labeled as having oligohydramnios) and can be caused by a number of different factors, including: Maternal Health Conditions, including dehydration, diabetes, preeclampsia, hypoxia, and more. everything good with baby, measuring good, but the dr said my amniotic fluid was 'still in the normal range, but on the low end' so he is sending the report to my dr and they will probably want me to come back in in 2 to 4 weeks to. I just got back from my 18 week level 2 ultrasound. She's growing (in 47th percentile), moves quite frequently and my weekly NSTs are good so I think she's doing well.I'm late to the party here, but will comment in case it could help anyone who is searching (like I was) for more experience stories. 18 Wk Ultrasoud - Amniotic Fluid 'On the Low Side of Normal'. So it looks like I'll just drink even more and continue to lay around. Evidence shows that if we give a stretch and sweep to eight women, that will prevent one induction past the due date. They've finally found a medication combination that is controlling my blood pressure and the protein has gone down in my urine and now this happens. In a normal, low-risk pregnancy, I usually start talking about a membrane sweep around 38 weeks, says Kerry Harris, a midwife in Vancouver. Yep, your memory is correct, I'm on bed rest due to pre-e. So, just drink tons of water and do kick counts, and I bet you'll be just fine!!! Apparently, it can manifest either way, although most commonly the Mom presents symptoms first. For me, I show no outward signs of pre-e, but my low fluid makes Drs suspects I have it or will develop it. Pre-e affects the placenta in some way or another, so LO's whose mothers have pre-e tend to produce less urine (ie amniotic fluid in late pregnancy). If it's not dehydration then it probably is related to pre-e. I do try to drink a gallon of water or so a day though because dehydration can affect your levels. MFM told me that as long as 1)Īs long as 1) LO's movement is good and consistent when you do daily kick counts and 2) LO continues to grow, then low fluid is not the worst thing in the world. Results: 327 samples of amniotic fluid were evaluated. Characteristics of mothers and newborns were obtained from women and delivery records. Se values were determined using the electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry and expressed in µg/L. My fluid has fluctuated a tiny bit from week to week (4.2, 4.7, etc), but nothing drastic. Amniotic fluid was collected from pregnant women during amniocentesis at 16/17 weeks of pregnancy. I have been on bedrest since 29 wks for low fluid (4.7, they like to see a min of 8). If PROM happens before you are 37 weeks pregnant, it is called preterm. If memory serves, you're on bedrest for pre-e? If so, it is my understanding that low fluid is a side effect of pre-e. The amniotic fluid becomes low because the baby brain spares and shuts down other organs, such as the kidneys, and stops peeing and so the amniotic fluid levels drop (amniotic fluid is pee from the baby).
